Milind Lele is the Managing Director of SLC Consultants, Inc., a strategyconsulting firm based in Chicago, Illinois. He was previously associated with the University of Chicago Booth School of Business as a Senior Lecturer and Adjunct Professor of Marketing and Strategy. Dr. Lele was also previously a visiting Associate Professor of Marketing at Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.
He has addressed issues and questions of corporate and business strategy, customer satisfaction, marketing strategy and tactics, manufacturing strategy, and logistics/supply chain issues over the past thirty years. He has consulted for a number of global companies, including: AT&T, Becton Dickinson & Company, Briggs & Stratton Co., Carl Zeiss Jena, Cincinnati Bell Telephone, Consolidated Papers, Inc., Deere & Company, GTE, Hindustan Lever Limited (the Indian subsidiary of Unilever, Plc), Monsanto Chemical Company, Johnson Controls, Motorola, Inc., NCR Corporation, The NASDAQ Stock Market, Owens Corning, Sea-Land Container Corporation, Shell Oil, Tetra Pak, US West, Verizon, W.W. Grainger, Inc., Yellow Freight System, Inc., and Zeneca Ag Chemicals.
Dr. Lele has authored three books: The Customer is Key, Creating Strategic Leverage, and Monopoly Rules. One of the seminal books on customer satisfaction, The Customer Is Key has been translated into Italian, Spanish, Finnish and Indonesian. The Planning Review selected Creating Strategic Leverage as one of the four best books of the year for top management. In addition, Dr. Lele is the author or co-author of numerous business and
technical articles for various publications including The Harvard Business Review, The Sloan Management Review, The Journal of Business Strategy, The New York Times, and Business Marketing.
He earned his doctoral degree in applied mathematics from Harvard University.
